No Easy Day

Yeah I broke down and got the book. It was a fairly quick read and I really enjoyed it. Of course I know not everyone is into stories from Special Forces members...I tried to read some of Marcinko's stuff and couldn't do it. It read too much like a bad Rambo movie. No Easy Day was a much better read than anything Marcinko has ever written..maybe I'm biased, or maybe Rogue Warrior is one of Marcinko's worst books. But I digress...

Anyway, "Mark Owen" (real name Matt Bissonette) I think did an excellent job. He did have a professional help him write the book. I didn't have any "OMG is that something super secret?" moments while reading the book, and I didn't expect to. I don't see what the Pentagon is freaking out about. Basically every story in the book is public knowledge....except maybe how long, and where, they trained for the raid on OBL. The personal side of the relationships these guys build in training with their teams is awesome, and the pranks had me laughing so hard I could barely read the page. If you get the book, just remember "The Staff of Power".

I found it an interesting read and recommend it for anyone who has an interest in military stories/history.

I would offer it up for a traveling rotation like we've done with other books on here, but I downloaded it on my iPad can I don't want to part with it.

I'm intrigued.

I saw the 60 minutes story on him a couple weeks back. It was nowhere near as in depth, but was interesting to watch.

Scabby, proceeds go to charity if I'm not mistaken.

The book is bad, I'll forgo the details, specially here on the interwebs. I can fully see why the gubment is pissed. Doubt the guy will ever be punished.

Talk to me over a beer sometime

So, this book is bad, but the book from the sniper guy is good?

I haven't read either (yet)

No book that discusses things that are best left un-discussed is good.

I gotta think he's making money from it somehow. Mostly because after this fiasco, I hardly see any organization that might require him having a security clearance granting one.

Of course, McDonalds is hiring.

By the way, I'd like in on that beer....
