Testing the Pro Mod tomorrow....

We are going to do some post season testing on the Pro Mod drag bike tomorrow, Sunday the 21st at Byron Dragway. here's the link to the track http://www.byrondragway.com/Home.html if any of you are close enough to stop by, please come find us at the track! It's south of Rockford, IL and it's always fun!

This is the 114" Twin Cam bike in my sig below that ran a best 8.733 at 148mph this year in August at Union Grove. We are working on some modifications to see if we can get it into the 8.60's for next season.

Dyna 2 stage ignition retard module with the Dyna shift counter - more advance in the first 3 gears and then back it off in the 4th and 5th; seeing how much more gear it will pull i.e. playing with rear sprocket tooth count; wheelie bar setup and slick pressure and launch rpm (between 6200 and 7000rpm), plus clutch setup. Trying to find the balance of everything.

By the way, Hornrocker and Terry Miller were out there today. Good to meet the Hornrocker! Otto and I didn't leave the shop until after 8:30 tonite and we are going back in at 7am to finish preping the bike.

Saturday night we discovered it had hammered out another cam key. Got that fixed but we feel the motor is prolly more hurt than we had thought after running in the national finals 3 weeks ago. At that event we ran 8.80's and today we were two tenths slower. The headwind was fierce at 20-25mph though and we were at the end of our race gas and it could be going flat on us. We ran 9.02, 9.05, 9.04 and then 9.02, the air was not great either. 60' was mediocre, 1/8 mle and 1/4 mile were off as well. we'll figure it out. it may need rings again, and fresh gas too.

Wish I could have made it to Byron - just wasn't in the cards. You talked about the wind being a concern when I was there, it did get heavy, I'm sure that didn't help. Sorry to hear the numbers weren't there for you guys, I know you'll get it worked out though.

It was great meeting you too, good times! I'll have to try and get up there more often, just don't want to be in the way.

just an update.....

After reviewing the datalogs, Otto determined that on our last pass Sunday, that it was quicker in the first 1/3 of the track than our 8.80's passes at the national finals. So, we made some progress on the launch setup with the new slick apparently. Also, after talking with another racer, they thought the headwind was worth something like a tenth of a second. Another guy racing a car said his ET's were 2 tenths off. So maybe things weren't as bad as we thought.
