Go early and stash gear along the way in culverts, bear dens and dark holes in the ground so when you do the full trip you will have all the gear stashed in strategic places along the way ---- wont everybody be surprised on how well equipped you will be! <insert evil laugh here>

This is precisely why I have been switching all of my riding gear over to being waterproof by default, with zip in liners etc. to make them warmer when necessary.

Being wet and cold isn't any fun at all, particularly when you are living on your bike all day long.
What ya riding there? You may need more luggage space than the beamer can carry.

LittleBear is right on!

I rode over 1100 miles last September in Colorado and Wyoming. 10 days after this picture was taken, they closed this pass for the season. When I got up in elevation I noticed my hydraulic clutch got mushy and wasn't totally disengaging. So, altitude definitely will affect hydraulic lines and carb bikes suffer. I have to say the Delphi efi did a wonderful job of compensating. It's a beautiful place to ride!
