yes but with a Big Twin you can get real race parts for it! and for the Sporty too!

The limitations Otto mentions are things like.... nobody makes a "real" race ignition for the Twinkie, then how about "real" race engine cases? they don't exist, the cam key for the gear drive is a true Achilles Heel (ask how we know), race cam choices are very limited.... prolly need to go custom.

It is unusual though and folks at the track seem interested in our progress.

Funny thing about the race track. Brand and model loyalty can go out the window in a hurry. If you have something that is winning, you are going to have people interested.

I'll be following this avidly...I'm guessing at some distant point we may even realize some improvements at our level due to your efforts but in reality I'd just like to see the "Twinky" become competitive!

this past season we raced in the AMRA organization. There were 5 national points events and we raced in 4 of them. Of the 4, two of them we went to the finals and lost both times. The other 2 events we went out early. So, it was a season of highs and lows. The event we missed? we were there but didn't qualify due to lifting the front cylinder clean off the case coming out of the water box on the 1st qualifying attempt. This mixed bag of performances got us 3rd place overall and we see where we need to make improvements over the winter for more reliability. Best pass of the season was 8.73 @ 148, which is competitive.

yep A real ignition that did not add 6 pounds, a Real oil pump that works, and a better gear drive setup would be nice.
