2010 Victories

Yes there not Harleys, lets get that out of the way.

The Cross Country is cool, sorta FLHX. Not sure if frame or fork mounted fairing. Not big on graphix. The Cross Roads is like a Road King. 25% more storage space in the bags, and hinged. Hopefully open and close better then Harley. 106", not bad.

They got a bunch of 8ball models, which are blacked out, which seems to be pretty popular right now.

I am curious how the oil cooling does. Boxers have been oil cooled for a few years now. I wouldn't be surprised if Harleys next engine is oil cooled, keeps the air cooled look, and may not scare the old guys so much.

While I don't see Harley being afraid of Victory, I think they are on the right track. They offer alot of bike for the money. They seem to be giving the public what they want from Harley, bigger motor, 6speed, fat tire.

I am not huge on the Vision, but it does look bettr in person, seen a few last year. I think the Vision may be the bike for people who want a Goldwing, but also want some chrome and to see the motor.

All in all, I think they are doing pretty good. More exciting then anything I seen put out by Harley.

Looks like the Cross Country is an attempt to build a bike that people would actually buy. I'm afraid the love it or hate it styling of the vision didn't get too many lovers. I like the Hammers best.

Ya the Vision is sorta hit or miss, mostly miss I think. I did see one in a bike mag, without tourpak, and short windshiled, sorta sporty. Be interesting to see if they add more to the CC and replace the Vision, or change the styleing of the Vision. Though I saw a few Visions on the road last year, and have heard dealers were selling them fast.

There are alot of people who just don't want a Harley, and its not about money. I know its a shock to some. Kids don't have the Harley nostalgia, they have finished high school and realize inanimate objects don't have a soul. They grew up with lots of choices.

There giving people what they want, more motor. They had 6speeds and 100" motors back when HD was still 5 and 88". The Vision had 6 gallon 1st two, or atleast announced it first.

Not sure if I like the stretched look of the tanks on the cruisers.

The Vision is definately not for me. The Cross Country is cool. But their dealer network is lacking. I looked up dealers in my area. It is out of my comfort zone taking my bike to Bubba's ATV and Marina for motorcycle work. At this point, you can't beat the HD dealer network. They're everywhere practically.

Harley definitly has a good network. I see lots of BMWs out there though, and there dealer not work is not so hot, in the States.

I wonder about the mechanics at the Polaris dealers. Are they bike guys or do it all. The question is, how much do you need to do to them? The belt is right hand drive, so I heard fairly easy to change, not like a Harley big twin.

The midwest has lots of ATV and snowmobile dealers, which helps. I wonder what they do in more urban areas. Its not such a big risk for a dealer to throw a couple bikes on the floor, as it is to open a brand new shop.

From what I saw on their dealership list, I get their mechanics are not dedicated to bikes. That concerns me. They might not sell many bikes at some dealers and I really don't want their service dept. learning on my bike.

Beemers don't need servcie.

I agree with Berserker, the vision looks much better in person. I had a chance to sit on one at the NYC show and it kind of grows on you. Although it seemed that the storage space was limited...It was also very well balanced...I sat on it and got it off the stand very easily...alot easier then my Heritage. All in all I like what they are doing...One can still buy an American product without having to mortgage your limbs.

I've sat on the Vision, too. Everything seemed so far away on it. The dash and bars are "long".

I can't get as much for my limbs as I used to either.
