Same tool works for mufflers with gravel rash. It's like a virtual Leatherman.

Been spending a bit of time on weekends lately visiting a friend who has a cabin up on the Blue Ridge Parkway. This was one such weekend.
Went up Saturday on the bike knowing it would probably be raining for the ride home -- but, hey, Russ inspires me... I lingered through most of the sunshine yesterday and my host was kind enough to invite me to stay for another night. I also managed to linger through most of today's sunshine, but really did need to get back and left in a pretty steady rain. The ground was already pretty wet and the driveway out from the cabin isn't much to speak of anyway. I was probably going 5-10 mph -- counting on a little momentum to help through the dicey drive -- when the intermittent gravel gave way to mushy mossy patch and things got squirrelly... The right side highway peg and engine guard basically snowplowed into the mud and bent back a bit. Everything seemed solid with the rear brake cylinder and I finally got the tip over sensor to reset and got it cranked. Rode it an hour and a half home with no issues other than a funky foot placement which had me out of sorts after an 80k habit with the right highway peg. There's a little nick on the front right corner of the fender, but with 98,500+ on the bike I'm WAY past nicks and scratches. The functional symmetry DOES matter though! I'm mostly OK. It'll be tomorrow before I know if my right wrist is broken or just pulled/torn/strained/sprained. As a veteran wrist breaker from the days of getting off of bulls faster than I got on them, my initial assessment is that it doesn't need a doctor. I have an ample variety of braces and splints and will apply one after some ice/heat... You can see the bend best from the top looking down in the second pic and the third shows how different the peg placement is. All I'm gonna say is that the lingering was worth droppin' a bike in the mud... |
