Quite the Light Show....

What a ripper yesterday evening! Third day of 98-99* temps and this sucker brewed up and made its unwelcome entrance.

While spectacular to sit in the warm rain and watch, it started 13 more fires in it's 30 minute show. The crack bang was simultaneous for three strikes, I think my neighbours wife beat Jaeger thru the doors into the house.....

This one had about a three second stick time to earth, you can see the instant result and a tidy little fire is still uncontained by Peachland.

Rode into Denver one year in the middle of a huge lighting storm.

88* with no precipitation, none forecast and stiff gusty winds gets you a bit of a mess. Highway 97 south was closed yesterday, a 4hr detour around, single alternating today with 2hr delays.

The evacs (limited) have begun but the wind can change that in a heartbeat. The pic is directly across the lake from me where the 2003 disaster started.

Too many fires and a corrupt, inept government doesn’t make for a good mix. At least our neighbourhood was cleared long ago, just the cliff to the lake can burn below us. You can chew the air today.

We have tourists coming through the area.


Las Vegas, Death Valley, Yosemite (currently a huge fire there), Lake Tahoe.


Some are telling us how lucky it is that we are currently in a week or two of thunder storms.

The 41's don't understand many times the storms just bring lightning and no or very little rain, just enough to get our humidity up to sweat levels.
