Red Line is old technology, very little R & D these days and it was NEVER desinged for bikes. It works well in the tranny though where tech doesn't matter as much and if you have red oil on the floor you know where it came from!

My bike ticks like a bomb on cool down. I have Lucas MC regular oil in it at this time. Bike still starts and runs good. Might send it out for a test when I change it just to see what it says.

I'm just looking for a lube that is quieter in the tranny.

Mobil 1, 70/140, the heaviest Mobil 1 gear oil.

Huge improvement...quiets the Clunk, smoother shifting (TC88 5-speed) all around better performance.

Highly recommended. You won't be sorry.

Try the thick stuff, try amsoil 60 or the valvoline VR1 50 or 60 wt. It quieted my motor right away plus it holds better pressure. In winter I will go back to 20-50 but for summer this is the ticket for 80degrees and above. No tic tic tic when hot and none of that annoying ding ding sound when you shut down a hot motor. The Amsoil will flow a lot better when cold because its a syn but the VR1 has a 15 degree higher flash point which is strange since it is a petro based oil. I am gonna give George a call next time and try the 60 syn amsoil and see how it runs compared to the VR1.

Source?

I run Redline in my trans and primary and have absolutely no problems. Also use their products in the transmission, transfer case and axles of my truck that tows a 16k trailer 90%of the time it's on the road with no problems. Also seem to be quite a few race teams running it.

I like Redline...it's not made specifically for bikes though and according to the race shop just up the road that builds 50k late model engines they haven't significantly changed their product in years. I used it in my bike tranny for a few years and it worked fine, I'm not cutting the product down at all. I just switched to Amsoil 95-145 heavy duty. I have no issue running non bike lubricants at all...I still use B&M Hydro Trick Shift Synthetic ATF in my primary.

Are your head bolts corroded/corroding? They're steel and will cool at a different rate than the aluminum heads. If they're rough where they meet the heads, they can pop like hell as things cool.
