It's 170 miles between Tonopah and Ely NV for fuel with a few remote ranches here and there on that stretch, used to be a "gas station" and diner out in the middle, but they have retired and closed.

Tonopah to Caliente is 192 miles of nothing, puckerbrush, range cattle, antelopes and desert tortoises. Rachel (Area 51) is in the middle, but the local mine closed some many years ago and the two gas stations there closed.
I suppose someone that works at the Little A'Le'Inn may have a gallon to spare if you could convince them that you were in dire need.

That sounds like a pretty dry stretch, all right. We took 50 across NV thirty years ago, then south through a valley with a dozen apparently permanent dust devils spinning.

Yep, lots of middle of nowhere NV.

Fallon to, Eureka, to Austin NV are 100 +/- (more plus) apart, then to Delta UT is a pretty barren stretch of a good 150 miles on US 50 from Ely NV.

Wild horses, Burros, Antelope, deer and elk occasionally. Pucker brush, (sage & rabbit), stands of Pinyon, CA & UT Juniper trees / brush.

And this year I hear there is an awesome crop of Mormon crickets everywhere in NV.

What I recall about 50 is that we didn't see anything alive for miles except us and the sagebrush, and the sagebrush didn't look too healthy. Kinda cool country, but not much for water.
