Timmy, unless Virginia law is different than California you can take the check from the insurance company that's based on the estimate they accept and do your own repairs. You are not bound to use a dealer or even an Indy to do repairs. My wife's bike got hit a couple years ago and we got the estimate and the check from the insurance co then I ordered the parts from Lakeshore HD for 30% less than the prices quoted in the estimate and did the repairs myself. Had enough left over to do the 1200cc conversion for her.

BTW - I knew in advance that they (Pat HD) would be doing replacement for stuff rather then repair; I just think the mark up is overly outrageous.

What does the r&r handle bars include? One would think grips, turn signals, switch housings, mirrors etc would be included in that labor price. If so, they might be hitting him up twice, but maybe not.

...honestly, I don't think its gonna matter much 'cause unless my insurance company fully accepts their quote/estimate on the repairs, Patriot will not be doing the work anyway.
After my Dr.Appt., I'll be calling my insurance company. I still need to file the receipt for the towing/storage and discuss reimbursement for bills that are starting to roll in.

I don't see anything there that we can't replace either in your shed, Russ's or my garage. That saves all the labor minus the estimate charge.

Parts. Figure 20% for those we have to buy. Some have already stated they have parts laying around not being used. Maybe fix the tank/fender vice replace. Thinking out loud, we could probably fix everything for less than
$3K. JMHO.

I'm thinking maybe the outer primary may be cracked, and that's why they want to replace it ? I don't remember anybody taking a close look to see if there was more than a scrape. Maybe when it dropped on the derby cover it might have damaged the housing where the derby attaches.

Yeah, 1-1/2 hours to go over it seems about right. I think it was about 2 hours for the BSL.

Oops just realized that your bike is a Dyna. I have a black outer primary for an 01 RK. Yours if you need it.

I opened my mail as I was writing this post (a freaking 50 minute process)
My insurance company sent me a check for $3150.00.
I can scan their stuff for upload tomorrow.
The main thing I see missing from their estimate is the outer primary cover.

The wife took over my shed, it would take the better part of a weekend to clear it out to have enough room to work on the bike in it.
Mikey is there room in your garage for my bike for a month or so while repairs are being done? You are closer to me than Russ (thanks for the offer to use your place, Russ) The only issue I see moving forward is my availability / time to work on it.
Any possibility of anyone being available this weekend to pick it up from Pat.- HD and getting it to Mikey's? I can ride shotgun by then - I hope.

Yeah, that would explain all the oil on it.
