Oil and filter changed.

Tire pressure is up to full.

Bags of coffee and back up clothing bag in saddlebag.

Traveling tools packed, rain suit from PA ride is on seat.

Maps..humm, seems that I went by AAA when they were out of many maps for the upcoming trip, but they did have W VA and KY ones, I have some past trip maps that can fill in the missing ones.

Glad I pulled the air filter, really needs cleaning and recharging.

I haven't carried paper maps on the bike in forever. Google maps on my phone is the go too. Just have to look at the routes while you have good signal and make a mental picture of any route changes. About the only paper document carried in the RV is a campground directory, but I find myself using google more for this as well as the bound documents don't get you the reviews, which are sometimes quite concerning. (I.e,)
"Don't stay here", "Worst Campground Ever", "Owner is creepy", "Staff were rude and argumentative", "Charged us more than advertised", "Advertise as Good Sam, but won't give discount in off season". "Was nice 20 years ago", Etc...

If you haven't already, take a look at the flooding going on in the Midwest. Lots of rivers are way above flood stage in Iowa, Missouri, Illinois and pretty much anything associated with flowing to and down the Mississippi.

Some places entire towns are flooded and many more mandatory evacuations have been announced.

I have 3 weeks off after Smoke Hole and we are trying to plan a trip out that way, but the areas I was thinking of passing through could be under water. I've already seen some posting on internet recommending check with them before making reservations as they may not be available.

I'd rather not, but I ride alone, many of my back road US highway, state routes are stretches of very sparse traffic and lacking gas stops.

I hit a section in Denver one year that popped the cork out of my WW (Wyoming Whiskey) bottle, I only found out when I stopped while looking for a room some ten miles North, they didn't have any, so I had the tour pack open and smelled the spirits, taped the cork back in place.

I carry maps because some small town gas station employees have no clue as how to get to a US or State highway junction in their town. And the few trips I have depended on the HD GPS, it tends to lead you through neighbor hood streets instead of staying on the highway through the little town to the destination I plugged in.
On my way back from PA I was following it to Topeka from KC, it took me off I 70 onto old US 40 for some reason into the upcoming thunder shower downpour I endured till I could find a road leading back up to 70. And I didn't have "stay off / avoid interstates" plugged in option.

Yes, one year going to ES, I came upon the Missouri river half across the US 136 IIRC around Brownville before I 29 to KC.

Sparse traffic is exactly the reason I take back roads, though gas stops can be challenging with a bike that needs to be fed every 100 miles or so. Only actually ran out of gas once and that was because I'd just gotten the bike and couldn't figure out the reserve switch's idiosyncrasies. Roy and I usually ride a couple of miles apart and it took a while for him to realize I'd gone missing and come back for me.
