luggage rack 2000 RK

My buddy tried mounting his luggage rack today, got it all together and the left side doesn't want to snap into place. It's a detachable type.right sie goes on fine. Anybody ever had to deal with one of these before? Any tips would be great. thanx in advance, Chris...

You say he had to put it together. I'd loosen it all up and put it on the rubber mounts, then tighten it back up.

If the rack is one piece like mine was, it wouldn't snap down either. I taped up the side brackets of the rack itself (to protect the chrome) and wacked each side a couple of times with a rubber lead shot mallet; making them a little further apart. Slipped on like a glove after that.

Be careful to do it evenly on each side.

put the front and rear docking kit on my ultra to make my tourpack removable and add a sissybar when tourpack is off. GGEESSSHHH frustrating.

my first suggestion would be to loosen up everything back there on the docking kit, fender supports, etc. just everything really... then put on the luggage rack and start tightening stuff up. Short of that I'm not sure what to suggest.

Exclamation

My buddies Fender Rack was like that, I just pulled a little here and there , and now it fit's great.

The one on my EG wasn't too bad, but I put it on then tightened the places where it snaps in.

First rule of assembly, get everything where it is supposed to be and THEN tighten.
