Sportster tank
I have '09 XL1200C trying to find a bigger tank. The fuel injection makes it a challenge. The Screamin' Eagle performance package makes it fast, but it sure sucks fuel. I'm lucky to go oner 100 miles on a tank!
Tried 3 custom shops & have struck out. Any suggestions? |

Couldn't tell ya. Every tank I ever looked at for my Sporty was smaller than the one that came on it. I was getting 50 MPG with mine with a stage one, so I never persued it to hard.

Find a better tuner. My wife's 1200 Sporty gets 55+mpg and she rides with me so she's never under 75 on the highway.

Apparently my only option is find a tank that's rated for fuel injection and redo the mounts.
Your wife's is probably stock. I have the Screamin' eagle pistons, high compression heads etc. etc. and reprogrammed computer upgrades. So. if i ride nice I get in the 40's |

Call Foster's H-D in Tuscumbia. They do a lot of performance work on Sportys and may have some ideas.

Long way from stock. High comp, V&H pipes, rejetted, cams, SE air cleaner and it started life as an 883 so she's spinning about 300 rpm more at 75 mph than you are. Find another tuner, even my 95" SG is getting 45+ on the highway. just sayin'

sportster tank
Your wife bike sounds nice. I started with the '09 xl1200c we added high compression heads, high output cams, pistons & rods with SE Super Tuner and satge1 m slip on low restricion exhaust and Screamin' eagle free flow air cleaner.
I did a closer check and I'm getting 45 mpg, |

I found a guy who upgrades sporty tanks to 5 gallons. He does carb & EFI tanks as well. I'm probably going to do it. I'll let you know how it turns out. It will be nioce not to be the 1st one who has to stop for go juice........
