2016 Camping Trip with Dan, MIke, and JD
Tomorrow morning, Dan, Mike (Savage), JD Cox (whom you've never met) and I are embarking on a 12-day motorcycle camping tour. We're hitting Carlsbad Canyons, Devil's highway, Painted Desert, Meteor Crater, Grand Canyon South Rim, LAS VEGAS, baby!, Zion National Park, Grand Canyon North Rim, Telluride, Colorado, Pagosa Springs, Colorado, Tucumcari, NM, and finally arriving home on July 3rd.
This will be one cool trip . . . or maybe a hot trip (considering the weather forecast across NM and Arizona). But at Grand Canyon and Telluride, the lows will be into the low 50's and even into the 40's at night. Wanna see where we are? Here is my SPOT device web page. Every 10 minutes, it should make a little dot with a line connecting to the previous dots. It's fun to watch others' SPOTs to see where they are, so I'm publishing mine here and on Facebook for my friends. Ken |

In Carlsbad, NM tonight. Was a long hot ride out here, reaching 105 at one point. It's a chilly 90 degrees at 10 PM, but a real nice breeze. We can see lightning in the mountains to our northwest. Should be a good sleeping night.
Ken's tent looks like party city! Tomorrow we go underground into the caverns. Should be nice and cool down there. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Caverns were awesome. Spent the whole day there and watched the bats fly out at sunset. Half a million of them.
It is a constant 56 degrees down there, and it felt great! (100+ outside!) The nice thing about the desert is that it cools down quickly at night so sleeping isn't too bad. Here's some pics of the cavern Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Yesterday we rode through Alamagordo and White Sands on the way to Silver City, NM. The sand is so fine you can actually sled down the dunes.
Today we rode the Devil's Highway (191) up to Holbrook. Stopped at the Morenci copper mine. Tomorrow we had to the south rim.. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
