I test rode an Ultra today...

there are things about it that I liked, but it needs stuff..stage 1, pipes, tune... Hey, I just did all that...must be a Harley.

It sure is smooth and I can see why it would be great to tour on. No wind buffet to speak of and I love the sound system...prolly have to upgrade that too..lol

I'm gonna have to take Miss Barbara for a long weekend on one and see if she falls in love with it. I can't see me getting one for my primary ride...that might change I guess.

I'd like to get one. Maybe I'll wait for an 09 to be turned in for trade at the local dealer and see what kind of price I can get on it.

Once you get used to all your glasses, gloves, gum, sunscreen and whatever other crap you carry around with you being in that tour pak for easy retrieval, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.

Once you get the BH to ride on it, it's a done deal. The creature comforts abound, with seats, backrest, and stereo she can control. I like the cruise, I really never thought I would use it. Like Mega says, storage for all things trippy are great.

Yep, that's why I won't test ride one. Though I gotta say, it's a PITA commuting on Vader. Even with the bags, there's just not much room for stuff (I'm still not sure how I'm gonna get all the Gerbings stuff home this afternoon when it's 75 out). I have this great idea that having a bagger would be great for riding to work every day, and Vader would be the weekend ride.

But nearly everyone I've talked to that's gone that way ends up never riding their Softail again, so I'm gonna resist the urge for a test ride as long as I can.

This is true. We were riding a Street Glide at the time. All I had to do is have Ruth sit on the Ultra in the dealership and the deal was on.

Funny thing is. We both have the headsets. But still prefer the yell over the shoulder method at 80mph. Some old habits just won't break I guess.

Yep, also drive the cage alot less with bags. Need beer, just take bike.

I use the tourpak to push back on the 30 pak, sitting on passenger seat.
