Rain gear
I'm looking into some new rain gear that will actually keep me dry, and I started wondering what everyone else is using. Looking for input as to what you use - pros and cons. I'm not a rich man, so cost will also be a factor. Help a brother out.........

Try places that sell hunting gear. I have a rain suit I bought at Sportsman's Warehouse for about $40. Works great except for the legs being a bit too short. I originally bought it for hiking and wasn't concerned about sitting down in it. Roy bought one there that has longer legs so I know they are available. I've had mine for a good twenty-five years but they still carry essentially the same thing for not much more than I paid.

Had a middle of the line Tourmaster suit, that was ok, for some time. Think I paid $75 for it on sale. Halfway through my trip to San Antonio last year I had to stop and buy an HD suit when my Tourmaster finally died. Believe it was about $150 and I like it better than the Tourmaster. Noticed that LeatherUp.com has a lot of rainsuits at some pretty good prices.
Also, lot of folks wear and swear by the Frog Togg 'Tyvek' suit.

A. Eat me, Packrat Dave.
4. I have the same H-D one Russ has. I love it. Looks like they've gone up a bit since I got mine, but maybe you can have somebody down here pick one up at a 20% off sale or something, if you decide to go that way. http://www.harley-davidson.com/store/hi-vis-rain-suit

I would say one of us could just bring it to ES for you, but that would only insure that you got monsooned on all the way down. Probably be sunny while you were there and for the return trip, though...

The Frog Togs that I had experience with all had a melted spot from the exhaust. Nothing a good iron on heat patch couldn't handle.

You are far more fastidious than most Frog Togg aficianados. They generally use duct tape.

I have Nelson Rigg stuff and they work great as well as being affordable. They breathe so you don't get too hot and nothing leaks. I also have Tourmaster boot covers and just some generic gloves which do leak.

there is a leather shop less than 10 miles from our house & that is where we got mine...I wore it last Halloween to pass out candy & I stayed very dry...not positive of the price but, I think it was around $50.00...
might be worth a "look-see"... "Stoney/Kathie" room is ready for use |

Actually, if you decide to go with Frogg toggs®, there are self adhesive ironing board covers at Wally World that you can cut a piece of to put on the leg where it meets the pipe.
That being said, I really thought Frogg toggs® were the cat's ass until I got a real rainsuit. No comparison, especially if you're going to be riding any kind of distance in the rain.

We had Frog Toggs when we went to ES in '08 (everything happened in '08), they sucked. I picked up a new set before Maggie Valley last year that seemed to work very well and didn't put too much of a dent in the wallet. I'll have to look at the name brand when I get home this evening.
