license plate frames
Received a warning from a cop recently about having a veteran license plate on my car that covered up 1/4 inch of the state name.
Seemed kind of "letter of the law" to me, as you could still read the name. Anyone else have this problem ?

They cracked down on that in Texas a few years ago. Now our depends on the cop and his mood.

Hot pencil, getting pressure from the admin Sgt to go get more "Activity" (AKA Quota) .
Had one hot pencil in my post who was writing people up for altering their license plates. Seems CA had a run of plates where after a few years the reflective, sticker on the metal plate would start to peel off. I would love to know how those tickets worked out for him as the problem was not the people altering their plates, but the state using shoddy materials.

I got pulled over back around 2008 on the 05. Trooper says your license plate is mounted too high.. It's factory installed I tell him. He says I can't read it. I didn't argue anymore and he didn't cite me. I ride through that area frequently and typically I'm not following the speed limit. Fortunately, I was riding the speed limit that particular day.
Through 2011 I never changed it, and still rode through that area all the time.

I don't use a toll pass on the bike as I rarely use the tollway. They have a system here that allows you to keep going without one by using cameras to photograph your plate. They then send you a bill in the mail.
Apparently the plate on the Ultra is too high up under the tour pack and thus the camera can't see it.

I went through a speed camera setup at least ten over the limit in Great Falls Maryland on the way home from Russ’s one night several years ago. I know it took a photo because it lit the night up. I waited and waited for a ticket to cone in the mail. It never did. I attribute that to not being able to see the plate up under the tour pak

Thanks to a trip to FL, I can attest to and confirm this "feature".

Obscuring and/or altering tags is on the books here in Arkansas as well. It's all up to the individual occurance with an officer. That said, I live in the Hood/Ghetto and their is a disportionate number of smoked/tinted vanity plate covers being used to obscure their tags. I just don't get it. Oh wait, I do get it, but it's still about cra
I've known about the toll road tourpack thing for a few years now. I'll be on the hunt for a tourpack soon, or maybe another scoot with one BOB

The position of the plate on my SG can't be hidden by the tour pak.
