2010 FLHTK Ultra Limited

410 miles on it in a week (would have been more, but the rain killed me), and I've got some opinions.

This bike is huge. Not big, huge. I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam, and I can flat-foot it.....barely. On the 'Train, Dana's right up against me, on this beast, she doesn't touch me unless she wants to. That said, once the thing's moving, it rides like a much smaller bike. I'm still going easy on it due to the break-in miles, but I can run this thing through the back roads as well as Vader.

Nice thing too, I crested a hill on a tiny little farm road yesterday that suddenly turned to gravel. I was able to Austin Powers the bike around on an 8-foot wide road that was sloped going either direction and had a crown to it. Not bad.

The brakes are amazing, especially compared to the single front rotor I'm used to.

The Cruise Drive transmission sounds better than it did in the '08 RK we rented in Ireland, but it still sounds like a bucket of bolts. The S/E 6-speed has me spoiled.

The stock exhaust sound leaves a lot to be desired, though I didn't really notice any undue heat from the catalytic converters yesterday, and it was in the mid-60s out.

The ride is (of course) far and away better than the 'Train, but it's somewhat ruined by the crappy stock seat. I think it's going to Mean City as soon as the weather really gets crappy. But I found myself flinching before I hit a few bumps yesterday...Bumps that would have bounced me off the seat on Vader, that I barely felt.

In all, this is a ridiculously competent bike. It gets great mileage (270 per tank according to the gauge) even though it's not broken in yet, is reasonably comfortable (and the seat gets the blame here), has plenty of power, and eats up whatever the road throws at it.

We're gonna ride the piss outta this thing.

The frames sposed tp be the best yet. no need for a tru-trk or any of that stuff.

Brembos all round plus ABS.

I got this thing down in a couple of corners and it was rock-solid. Haven't needed the ABS so I can't comment on that. I'm looking forward to getting past the 500 mile point so I can rip into the motor.

Baggers aren't huge, just bigger than Vader, that's all. Once you are able to rip into it, your grin will get alot bigger. Glad you love your new scoot. I love that color combo!

I couldn't believe it when I went from my Wide Glide to the Ultra.

Eh, I've only got 85 miles left 'till I cross 500, and 43 of them will be slogging through Beltway traffic tomorrow morning.
