Another online friend for the list.

I've known her almost as long as CT, and she and CT are friends too. Her name is Stacey K. She's a tough one. Been a patrol cop and a volunteer firefighter. Her son just became a Marine. She needs prayers for healing. Here's what she wrote to me last night, I'd missed her whole illness thing...

lol... LOTS! Right before I left acso in late February I was sick a lot. They threatened to fire me for missed time, etc. Well... mid April I was put in the hospital for what they thought at the time was pneumonia. Turns out it was a lot more serious than that.

Have been in and out of the hospital for months, have had several lesions and nodules removed from the lungs as well as several biopsys to rule out any cancers. Turns out I have a disease called Wegener's Granulamatosis. It's an autoimmune disease that attacks the lungs, sinuses, kidneys, liver, joints (gives severe rhuematoid arthritis symptoms) as well as just about every organ and tissue of the body. The Cleveland Clinic has a good site about it if you're interested.

There is no cure, and left undiagnosed is usually fatal in the first 6 months. But they can possibly put it in remission using chemotherapy, steroids and a bunch of other meds. I start taking daily chemotherapy (Cytoxin) today. Chemo will last anywhere from 6 months to a year. Then we can back down everything to 'remission levels'. The way the doc explained it to me, it's like a whole body cancer with no tumor to take out. Going to puke, most likely lose all my hair... the usual chemo side effects. It's been a rough ride so far, but it hopefully going to get better soon. It's scary stuff... but I'm wearing my sons' USMC dogtags to give me strength. Jim has been wonderful. He drives me to every appointmnet, stays the nights in the hospitals, does all the housework and shopping, all while working 7 days a week. Don't know what I'd do without him.

She gave me permission to post this. It's from about 15 years ago, the little boy is now a Marine. Her husband is huge, she told me that she's 5'8". They both are volunteer firemen. I think they're around the southern Indiana/Kentucky/Tennessee area.
