Thanks for your help!
Call SERVPRO!! (The company where I work now). They do mold removal. Can't help with the de-humidifier part...

I read up on this awhile ago and found several sights that said to use bleach /water and then make a solution of Borax and water and wash everything down. Borax is said to help prevent re growth, and it's like 3$.

SERVPRO sounds good, but I'd rather save some $$ and do it ourselves...

I bought the middle sized model from the local Lowes.
I had to empty it twice a day.
we've since put a dehumidifier under the house that has a pump so it pumps the water out by itself. Keeps the indoors dry enough that the
A/C system does the rest.

We gave the dehumidifier to my sister in law. It is still running.

Like they said, it is nothing but an airconditioner that catches the condensate in a tub for you to dump.

Get one, fire it up, dump the bucket.

After Katrina, we had a mold problem from hell down here on the South Coast. Of course FEMA and all of the "Experts" said bleach/water was ineffective. Wouldn't you know it, the SOB's were wrong. Everyone I know used pure Chlorox and no one that has rebuilt since has complained of a problem with mold reoccurring. As for a dehumidifier, I can't help you beyond saying that the air conditioners do an adequate job down here where 90+ humidity is a way of life.

You can go to your local HVAC supply house and pick up a 115 volt condensate pump.
Put the dehumidifier up on a stand and let drain into the pump, just run some 3/8" plastic tubing from the pump to outside or a sink and off you go...no more dumping the pan.

That's the way my AC is set up now since the unit is in the basement with no way to "drain". The condensate pump is hooked to a tube that runs across the basement ceiling and into my sink....

I don't blame ya! I DID learn something very interesting at work yesterday though - that bleach doesn't kill mold - it just bleaches it! The only thing you can do is remove it, or keep it dormant by killing the bacteria that provides the environment for it to grow by sealing it off with paint, etc.

Pretty wild! Didn't realize mold was so resiliant!
