Saw a 10nd traveler today!

Got a last minute text from Tom this morning. He was wondering if I'd be able to meet him somewhere on I-80 today.

Consulted google maps, and the lovely and vivacious mrs. o, and came up with a plan.

I directed him to the Love's Travel Center on I-80 near La Salle, IL. Figured he'd need at least three hours to get there, I needed two and a half.

I scrambled like heck to get out of here, took like 20 minutes to get to launch. Traffic up this way was busy when I rolled out, churches lettin' out and all, so it took me a good 45 minutes or so before I hit clear sailing.

I arrived at the Love's right on time. Tom wasn't there yet, so I figured I'd gas up the 'b'. Mrs. O asked me, prior to my leaving, do you have your keys? Yep, said I. I had keys alright. Keys to the pickup sitting in my driveway.



Lucky for me, I keep a spare on the 'b', just in case. Today was just in case.

Gassed up the 'b' and found a spot in the shade and waited.

Tom rolled in about a half hour or so after I got there.

It was good to see him. We went in, picked up a couple of cool drinks and proceeded to visit for a good long while.

Man, the time flew by.

All too soon he had to get heading west and I had to motor home.

Hugs and handshakes were exchanged and tootle ooohs were said.

Thanks for the notice, Tom! I'm so glad we were able to get together today!

And lastly.......

I thought I'd ride some two lane on my way back home, so I made a right out of the Travel Center and headed north.

It's a county road. Yep, La Salle County 43.

Had I known that, Tom coulda added this 43 to his grand adventure as the sign was less than a quarter mile north of where we were.



I hadn't ridden a 43 in a great while, but I did so today.....





Oh, and it was warm today.

It was so warm you could smell the corn growing. Lots of corn fields around La Salle.
