I used a TTS to tune the BSL, and I've gotta tell you, that was one great running bike. I had an essentially stock 103 that ran like a raped ape, was glass-smooth, and easily returned 42-43mpg. But damn, I spent an awful lot of rides stopping every 20 minutes to futz with the map.

I've had a PV program in BSCVO now for a week. I've made exactly two changes: the throttle blade settings and I've activated EITMS. The unit still isn't attached to the bike. At some point it will be, and I'll probably do a couple of tuning runs just to get everything dialed in to my specific bike.

But on a simple Stage 1 bike, it's just not worth the effort. The BSL fought way above its weight class, but really, so what? The base TTS maps are fine as a starting point for tuning, but they're lousy for leaving alone and just riding. Jamie's PV map for my bike is really, really good. Yes, I can tell it needs a tweak in a couple of places, but I could easily ride this tune as-is for quite a while.

There's some benefit in chasing "The Perfect Tune", especially if you've added cams or displacement. But on a Stage 1, you're chasing a horsepower or two. Screw that, I'm not going down that rabbit hole again.

At this stage in life, I'm tired of having to constantly screw with things...I want it simple. When my PV gets here in a few days, I will marry it to the replacement ecm I got, get the map to where I want it, and then I'm done messing with it.

I put the TTS on mine, spent an hour in the saddle with Cody riding the mountains every which way I could figure.

Filled my chart with mostly green, built and loaded the map...


And haven't fukced with it in 2 years.


Runs awesome, ZERO isssues.

TTS, got about half way done, computer burned up, havent touched it since, runs decent but I am sure there is more there. MPG only about 35. Problem is I really don't understand all the Mapping stuff, even with help from Smart Dave.

If you're comfortable the VEs are good.

Need to identify cruise area of map. Adjust afr upwards in that area. I'm currently set at 14.1 and get 41 mpg. If that induces pinging when you roll on the throttle from cruise, confirm VE first, then lower afr a point.
