Mercury's 103

Got the sheet on my computer, today. Interstate cruisin speed is 3,000 and torque is right at 100 at that point. Horsepower curve is more like a ramp. As long as you stay in it, it keeps climbing. It's fun as hell to ride. Bob 103.jpg

41 Cycles just north of Macon, GA

Chart below is initial run in blue HP=76.38 Tq=85.69
5th gear (just for kicks) in red HP=79.89 Tq=90.61
Final SAE 4th gear run in green HP=78.88 Tq=88.91

Holy Crap! I didn't see that RICH black hole from 2500 to 3000 rpms on the blue line. That's cruisin speeds. No wonder your gas mileage was less than desirable.

Comparing how you came in to the 5th gear pull, I see 3 & 1/2 ponies & 5 f/lbs of torque.

Riding in 28* weather this morning & hangin out with you all day.... PRICELESS!

I had fun today!
When I say it's runnin' a little rich in the mid rainge -- I ain't playin'!
Of course my cruising speed is actuall closer to 3200-3300.

My initial gas mileage check on the ride home did NOT shoe much improvement,
but I'm not all that surprised -- I had A LOT of fun testing it out !

You're good at math, but you have no concept of my budget!

I do realize I have a little part to play in the gas mileage, but when I ride all day with a few others, or a larger group, I have consistently had to take on more gas than others at gas stops. It ain't just me -- it's partly me -- but, it ain't just me.

In April of 2007 had the heads done by a guy, Dean Turk. using zippers 557 gear drive cams, T-max ecm, 85hp 95tq. Don't have a legible dyno sheet.
