IIRC were double stacked, one was behind the other, thus cooling issues. So four rows of radial cylinders.
For shits and giggles, one time I looked up how often changed and what kind of engine oil used in the F4U, I guess the best I could come up with is some amount of hours or after every mission. Remember, these were the days before detergent/ additive oils were in use. Also, if I read correctly, the heads are somehow screwed (or was it pressed?) onto the jugs. Does this now become an oil thread?... Sent from mobile device prone to spelling errors
