Rock came down to visist on Thursday and hang out for awhile.

I was just fininshing up putting the stock breather valve back in the bike to see if it was gonna make any difference in that oil mist problem that I've been having since the build.

We got to spend some good time together and hung out for a couple of hours. Then Rock needed to start heading home. So I told him that I'd ride up to Clinton with him and head back home. That's about an hour from here, and Rock lives about 1.5 hours.

So we headed out, it was a WONDERFUL day for riding, nice sunshine, warm ..... Everything was great, we got out on the open road and about 25 miles from here, at about 90mph on the interstate she let a gasket go somewhere .....

Now I need to wash her up, put some oil in her, start her up and see where she's puking from.

No strange sounds at the time, no loss in power, she was still running strong when pulled off the road and onto the shoulder .... I'm sure it's just a gasket ....

I'll know where the problem is by the end of this weekend. But I won't have any time to work on her for about 3/4 weeks ...

I'll post up when I find out more ........

Mike, the oil at the bottom of the front cylinder, plus the fact that all the oil is down low leads me to think that the lower cylinder base gasket blew out. Either that, and this is something that you don't want to have happen, but it's a possibility...

The stock H-D Evo cases are notorious for cylinder studs pulling out of the crankcase...

..
Good eye Woody, the oil is, ALL DOWN LOW, there's no oil on the upper half of the engine, no signs from the head gaskets or the rocker boxes, so whatever it it, it's down low for sure.

I DEFINITIVELY don't what to find that !!!

You know, I put in ALL NEW cylinder studs when doing the build ........ sure hope the fuk one, or more, of them hasn't come out .......

I'll find the leak source today/tomorrow (I hope) and will post back up.

I won't get to work on it until mid next month

Sucks, Mikey Two Times.
Sorry to hear it.
IIRC, EVOS also had a habit of blowing base gaskets.

Well, I don't have time to work on it now, but I did get a look at it yesterday. Cleaned it up, and then put oil in it and then started it.

Turns out the the EARLY DIAGNOSTICS is pretty good.

The front LIFTER BLOCK is completely loose

I KNOW that I torqued it, even got pics of it ....
but it's loose now !!

So, when I get back, I'll take the pushrods out, pull the lifter block, check the lifters, exam the cam, get a new gasket, get some more blue loctite ...... put it together and try it again

man when I started it yesterday, that bike sounds AWESOME !!
She's STRONG I'm telling ya !!

Well, I'm pretty excited about the 'early' look at it, and hopeful that it's nothing more than just that loose block. No idea how it came loose.

Think I should check the torque setting on the rear cylinder lifter block

see ya in a couple weeks
