Picked up the Tiger tonight
Only got to put about 50 mostly highway miles on it. But I'm still thrilled with it. Rips through traffic easily, absolutely no weird behavior at speed, even downhill decreasing radius turns at 90-100 mph were rock steady. No buzzing or vibration at any speed. Comfortable ride, I usually get aches in my bad knee on most bikes that don't have highway pegs but the positioning on this bike is great. Except for needing a larger windscreen the aerodynamics are good. Rode in 32 degree temps with nothing more than a jacket and winter gloves and jeans without freezing.
The stock sidecases are okay but I wouldn't buy them(thrown in as this bike was a demo), I'll probably off them before summer and get something sturdier and top loading. Other than the cases and windscreen I can't see a need to modify anything. Probably buy a top case for longer trips.

Very mixed opinions out there on the Triumph bags. The SW Motech Trax bags seem to be pretty well thought of.
Congrats again to ya!

Touratech stuff is breathtakingly expensive, but everything I've gotten from them is top-notch. Their customer service is excellent as well.
If/when I ever destroy my stock bags (which are made by Touratech for BMW), I'll replace them with Zega Pros. They're awesome.

I'm going to get the SW-Motech top case for now. The Triumph cases are okay for on the road but would never survive an off road crash. My thinking is a 40-45L top case for around town and day trips and only use the Triumph cases on long trips for now. If I'm happy with the SW top case add the others later.
I'll get pics up eventually, riding is on hold for a bit since I tore my right bicep Thurs. night. At least it doesn't seem to have torn a tendon loose, so I got that going for me.

I've done about 6000 miles of true dual sport riding mostly to and from Trans Am Trail (three trips now - TN to UT) albeit on a BMW F650 Dakar. And several thousand regular riding on a DS bike.
I have played with most configurations. I won't presume to know much of anything or give advice on loading/luggage or my experience with different setups. But if you have any questions, I am happy to help out where I can. Enjoy the bike! |
