So, on the way to KC in 2006, we had a retread blow on the other side of a garbage truck a couple lanes over. Quick jump to the left, and I still managed to get hit on the lip with a little piece, just enough to sting.

On the way home from the Xth, Fe Butte was leading and we were directly behind a semi when the left outside rear decided to commit suicide in a most spectacular manner. No time or place to countersteer to, so it was just stand on the brakes to get a little distance between us and the dying retread. All I wound up with on this one was a tiny little fingernail sized piece of retread dancing on the inner fairing just behind the windshield for a couple seconds. Whew! Spent a little time dodging chunks and stopped for a nice potty break...

Fitting way to bracket the first 10 years, I guess.
God must truly watch over drunks and Doofs.

A couple hundred miles later, I saw a bird fly in around the front left turn signal and disappear. Didn't even feel a thump. Figured I was gonna have a mess wedged somewhere the next time we stopped.
When we stopped for gas, nada. Then somebody asked me if I'd hit a bird. Apparently, it just arced up and over the bike, and they saw it from the back. I figure the old girl just chewed it up and spit it out. She's still got some attitude, apparently.

We had a lady back into our trailer with her SUV at a rest area by the Mississippi state line. It set off the bike alarm, and we came running. She had angled her car so the corner just hit the cooler on the tongue of the trailer and bent it over a bit. This lady was so scared, she started crying. No damage done, so I told her it was OK and she gave me a big hug. Took 5 minutes to loosen the clamp and straighten the cooler. It could have been worse. God looks out for GazintAs as well, and I thank Him daily.

Mega, literally, flipped us the bird, saw it arcing way up high above him and back at us.

Wondering how he did that. Not even a cloud of feathers...

I lost my speedo, turn signals, and brake lights on the way back. Some issue with the trailer wiring took out a fuse.

Ricky does it up right when he does it.

All I lost was a couple of do rags and somehow, a tour pack latch.

I went to the dealer to get one and was told that they HAD three and I was number four. That line sounds familiar to me. They must practice it at Parts Counter School.
