Just got mine!

Just picked up my 2005 RG on Saturday. First impressions: I like
it! I got it about 250 miles from home and it was a pretty sweet ride
back.

It was a theft recovery bike that had the fairing removed by the
dirtbags. The guy I bought it from had purchased it from the insurance
company and replaced the fairing. Mechanically it's in excellent shape
but there are a couple minor things that need addressing:

1. Fuel gauge doesn't work. It's getting power. When I start the bike,
it goes to 1/2 tank and stays there regardless of the fuel level. Two
questions on this. Any hints on where to start looking? also, is the
low fuel light triggered by the same sender as the gauge? Since it's
injected and thus has no reserve, I really need to get this working to
feel comfortable.

2. Ambient air temp gauge not working. Either that or it was below
zero on Saturday. Again, any hints on where to start would be helpful.

3. Cruise control switch is broken. Anyone with a parts manual have a
part number for this?

4. There appears to be a bad connection somewhere in the stereo
system. When not running, the stereo works fine. When I'm riding, it
cuts in and out.

5. No headlight cover (lens). Anyone know a part number for this?

Other than those things, it's in really great shape. I'm really
looking forward to doing as much riding as possible on it.

If you got a good deal the RoadGlide throw away all the gauges and put in one heck of a radio w/ alot of speakers into the nose of the ole shark~!

My new scooter

Here's a couple pics of my 2005 RG.

This is what it looked like when I picked it up:

This is after a few changes... New windshield, seat and stripe on the fairing:

Thanks, I created the stripe in Adobe Illustrator and a local sign shop cut it for me. Then I outlined it w/ pinstripe tape to match the factory stripes. $25 for the stripe, $5 for the pinstripe tape.

I've always been a fan of the RoadGlide. Here, I sit with a RK wanting an aftermarket fairing and stereo.

I love my scoot, there's no change on the horizon.
