I looked at one a couple of weeks ago. They are very nice. The tech in their bikes looks far superior to what's on the current Harleys. Just have to wonder how's looking they'll be around

Not happy about either one moving out but we live in a capitalist society and a global economic environment, like it or not. I believe it has been stated several times lately, "Nobody wins in a trade war."

Is there really that big(ger) a market for baggers in other countries?

And much of the softail lineup isn't that much cheaper than a bagger, are they?

Or are they (HD) looking to expand their name brand with their "Street" models?

Yeah. People say a lot of stupid shit that they hear other people say. Steel and aluminum plants that have been shuttered due to cheap Chinese metal are reopening. People who lost their jobs are going back to work. We can just say no big deal and let the Chinese produce all the steel and aluminum and the next time we have a world war it won’t go quite as well as the last one. It’s not a trade war. It’s a negotiation. With the trade deficit we have the rest of the world can’t afford even an opening volley.
Harley is desperate to expand their customer base. The one they have now is fixing to die. The sportster line is so over priced that entry level buyers can’t get financing. It is priced for middle aged men who never rode and want to buy into the lifestyle. The business model they’ve had for years is playing out and they don’t know how to do anything else so watch for them to do all kinds of things that will make no sense to us. Because they aren’t trying to appeal to us any more. We’ve all likely bought our last one, two or maybe three bikes. The Harley we knew is done.

According to the inside line , they will not import bikes to America, other thaen the Streets. They will make bikes overseas to sell overeseas and m,ake bikes in America to sell in America.

Funny how Harley believed that tariffs protecting a particular US industry was ok back in the 80's, but now a tariff protecting another industry today is the wrong thing to do.

I lived through that. There was a ***** dealership on almost every corner in the country. I rode Hondas because you could get help almost anywhere. The huge price increase knocked me out of that market. Had ***** built a plant here, we might all be riding a ***** today.

After years of buying used bikes, I started riding HD's but I think I am done. I have bought my last one.

Pretty soon I'll be parking it anyway. Age and physical limitations are starting to get to me, so my son-in-law just might get a good deal on a hack. Or somebody else if you know anybody looking.

If they continue down the road they're on now, I seriously doubt I'll ever buy another one. Will I buy something else? I'm still happy with what I have. There are just too many other things going on that compete for riding time these days.

They did. H0nda had a motorcycle plant in Marysville, Ohio from the '70's to the '90's. I had a Valkyrie with a big old "Made in USA" stencil on the back of the seat.
