Nice work Paul.

I had a RKs seat but now mine is back to stock. The only thing I have taken off is the radio shelf sheet metal.

I really dig the cop seat.

Are we the only ones here who paid 50% of book for our bikes?

Hello fellow cop bike brothers. Defenity the best bikes available. Most people don't realize they have twice the HP and tourqe of the civilian RK. Don't let anyone know.

The 2004 and 2005 version was 13k to the Dept. What did you pay?
Out here in Calif, the dealers lease out the bike for $1 a year with a maint contract. After it is used for 12 to 18 mo, it is sold as a used bike with a tag of aroung 16k, unless they were able to get some takeoff seats and bags. Then, they might use it as a rental or will try to sell it for 17k.
The Calif bikes are considered escort bikes, because Calif has requirements that the standard police bike can not pass.
I bought mine out of state from a city that did not lease thier bikes, they bought them.

The police seat is very comfortable, but it puts you high in the saddle to catch more wind at speed. It is great for observant motor police, not so great at highway speeds.

I think I got mine for 13.5 with 3200 miles on it.

It has been a real gas.

I am tempted but.................

OK,

One of my riding friends is a Chief of police.

We took a ride and stopped by the station and I got the grand tour....cool stuff.

They have brand new e-glide, big bore bikes that look and sound awesome.

HE gave me the unused police decals from the saddle bags and said "put them on your bike" It is not against the law.

I admit they do look cool in the groove on my bags where they are meant to go....But I do not want to be a poser or a police buff.

He said as long as I am not pulling people over or dressing like a cop it is OK.

My Bike was an actual police bike....but I am not a cop...they just would look cool on an actual cop bike.....

What would you do?

I would not run them.

Let me see if I can explain why ---- it would be cheapening the decal for someone who had not paid the dues or walked the walk to run them.

It would be like someone having a Harley Decal on their pickup truck and never owned one.....

California has required cat muffs on baggers since 04' for sure and maybe earlier. They also require charcoal cannisters on all big bikes. The police bike is sold with neither. 06 may have had them, but 07 does not.
The Harley police bike is designed to be a 49 state bike, and the send similar out of the country. A calif police bike is considered special order. I have heard that police bikes have richer downloads since they idle and go at low speeds, I am told that the advance is different to meet a 0-60 requirement, these ecm flashes are not legal in Calif. My bike had an air cleaner box that had holes in it. It looked like it was made that way. Stock Harleys do not have this. I am sure that there are other differences, I heard that the cams have similar lifts, but may be different. The pistons are the same, as are the heads. I think the gearing is the same. Police bikes have a more powerful stator and a different clutch, as well as different wiring.
