Noodles here.
Question~ Harley Sportster Family have left enough along.... Back in the day the 900 was crap.. the 1000 was crap.. the 1100 was crap.. and in the mid `80's they went to 1200 and still standing strong today~ NO one fcks w/1200 sportys in the last 30 years~ ```````````````````````````````````````` SO Why With Harley Big Twins, they go from.. 74 cubic inch to 80 cubic inch to 88 cubic inch to 96 cubic inch to 103 cubic inch to 110 cubic inch ect..?????

My guess....
Sporty was designed to compete with the smaller and perceived 'speed bikes' of the day like Triumph, BSA, Norton etc. Since they were all listed in cc's, it was the easiest way to compare the Sportster with those bikes and immediately show it's power/speed advantage (900 vs. 650).
