The Dealer Called

Remember this POST?
It was the quote from the dealer here to install the Wild1 575s on the Ultra.

He called today just 'outta the blue' to tell me that he'd knock 10% off of the parts if I wanted to do this.

I says 'wow! 10%, eh? Lemme think on that. Still seems a whole LOT of labor time for that job...'

He stumbles a bit and comes back with cutting one hour off of the labor.

He says, that man this is really cuttin deep, I'll do it for 1157.00, out the door!

I'm so impressed I said I'd call him if I decided to do that, but don't reserve the bay just yet.

They must be hurtin'. Hell, its the middle of their prime time, and they're making cold calls?

One THOUSAND one HUNDRED and fifty seven dollars, to change out a set of bars, 2 hydraulic lines, and a bunch of wires?

Man, I'm in the wrong business.


I did all that on my FX, ran all the wires through the bars and EVERYTHING, in about 4 hours, AND I had to drill to the bars to run the wires through 'em.
Now granted, I didn't have the throttle by wire gizmo, or cruise control, but, DAMN.

It's a pain, but you can do it yourself. You have to take the connector apart to fish the wires through the bar, then put it back together correctly. I used a small precision screwdriver to separate the wires from the connector. I never did it with the TBW, but I did it on my 2007. That's when I found out I'm slightly color blind. Hard to tell a grey with purple stripe wire from a grey with brown stripe with fluorescent lighting.
