Oh yeah, what does emulsion rear suspension mean?


Coil over oil (emulsion) shocks?

Already have air over oil (emulsion) shocks in the rear...

Cartridges in the forks eliminates the need to rebuild the obsolete design that Harley has used for so long.

As long as "we" kept buying this old design stuff all the while knowing there is better out there, we accepted what they built and they made money off their fan base.

I think it is long overdue for some kind of mono swing arm, but how much design changes would be needed to move forward on that?


All going to be moot in a few years anyway with all the cages going to self driving, they will not want maverick riders out on the roads doing it their way, riding all willy nilly changing speeds and changing lanes on a whim, and not following along with the rest of the robots on the road

anyways, don't buy one till 2018, let 'em work the bugs out.
(RG Special came with the cartridge shocks)
Putting on saddle bag guards tomorrow and a new engine guard when it comes in from Surdyke. That class better teach me something. I can't afford any more fixins.

OK, the ion sensor, I never really did get why, size or patent rights, that kept them, Harley, from using it on the TC engines from the '07 and up?


It had/ has been around on car engines in some form or another since sometime in the mid nineties.

I can see, over the years,the downsizing of many of the components in use on Harley's today, heck if anyone worked on early electronic Bosch "D" Jet FI (known to us American mechanics as "Speed Density" FI) on late sixties VW tp III's you would remember the size of the BMAP (Barometric/ Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor in use then to what is in use today.

It was roughly almost half the size of a current X Box One, hidden way back up inside the fender behind a trim panel inside the car.



Currently HD uses a form of speed density FI and the BMAP is a tiny thing attached to the throttle body.


Later came the AFM, (air flow meter) with a door the slightest backfire would tweak that door inside the flow meter causing more expensive replacement parts needed, due to false air due to vacuum leaks in some form or another.

At some point in the near future some form of the hot wire AFM (current air flow meter technology) will be employed on the Harley engine for even better fuel control and trim and emission control.

Take a close look at that rocker box which from this point on will be known as the "Butthead".

Looking at one of the cut away pictures, it looks like they have added some baffles leading up to the oil separator "filter" thing in the rocker box.

Maybe less crankcase oil vapors will escape the lower end and into the throttle body and air filter area.
