Full charge on the battery, then had it tested at locally. Battery is good.


Don't wait, it won't be fixed before 1 pm. No dealers closer than an hour open before 11 am, and won't know until then if one is in stock.

So, I took the battery to another dealer and they said the battery was bad.

Picked up one in Richmond after the dealer opened, and by 1:30 pm it was back to normal. Looking back, I think the battery had been deteriorating slowly over time. The difference at start up with the new one was night and day better.

I'm delaying the inevitable on the Ultra's battery as well. I know it's not very old but it's doing that slow, faltering crank when cold.

A neighbor expressed an interest in my old Road King which has resided under a cover for years. (I've made no move to sell it) I tried to charge its battery and found it beyond saving. So, the Road King got the Ultra's tired battery and the ultra got a new Deka yesterday. The RK is a lot easier to turn over than the Ultra, so it works out well and the old battery spins the little 88 over with no issue.
