EV charging stations (Not that I need one)
On a hunch (wondering about) looked to see if there are any EV charging stations in or near Thermopolis.
I guess the nearest is Riverton, roughly 50 miles away, Cody has one of two working at the Wild West center, then Casper has them, as one reviewer mentioned he charged up his T 3 to the max range in Casper and just made it into Cody on "fumes". Wonder if I should mention to the soon (?) to open Raptor grill and pub in Thermopolis (used to be a bowling alley). That maybe they should look into putting a couple in and the users could cool their heels inside while waiting for their cars to fill their "tanks".

What on earth would someone want with a car that can't make it further on a charge than my bike on a tank of gas? That small gas tank is one of the only two things I don't like about the V*rago, the other being it needs an additional upper gear.

Saw some write up on the upcoming full electric F 150, not hybrid, you can get optional range extender package, a gas powered generator unit that mounts in the cargo bed.
I guess basically a hybrid generator that is not part of the main powertrain assembly.

A reserve portable power re-charge pack might be an option.
Tesla appears to be working on something new, battery wise.

there has to be an inorganic chemistry major somewhere working on this. those electron shells aren't going to jump by themselves.

California has imposed a zero emission requirement for diesel truck sales. What I want to know:
1. Does this include school buses? They claim it's to reduce carbon emissions and protect the children. How can they do that if there are thousands of diesel school buses still hauling them to/from school? 2. All electric vehicles don't purchase diesel fuel that is taxed to support road maintenance/construction. How long before California imposes a road use tax based on miles driven. What if those miles are not all driven in California? California will not be the only state affected. As usual, other states are already looking to follow in their footsteps.

Quote:
Where I lived in the PRK, in the mountains, Caltrans (DOT) plow trucks mount a sand spreader bed on the plow trucks. Their version / model routed the exhaust through the bed sides to warm up the "sand", which I thought was a great idea. A few years back when they got newer model plow trucks pat of the Diesel emission system was the reburn catalyst particulate thing. But first winter when they mounted the sand bed on the trucks the rerouting of the exhaust through the bed walls cooled the exhaust to the point that the reburn system wouldn't work and plugged up the exhaust system. So they removed that part of the emission system that is required of all Diesel trucks clean burn requirements in CA.
