My first motorcycle was a *****. 350 Street/Trail. Took that damn thing everywhere. Can you believe I sold a 1967 Mustang to buy it?

They are just dumping the ricer looking bike and keeping the American-made looking bike, and will probably combine the best of both brands into the one.
Yes, I know both brands are made in United States, I'm just going off of what they look like to most riders.

'78 KZ-1000. Bought used full dressed, headlight flange cracked out on the fairing so I stripped everything off. Put a D&D four into one header on it, had tuned by a local KZ guru. Now that was one fun and uber fast bike to ride in the early 80's. I miss it, I named it Brutus!

Over the past couple of years I have gotten to know the owner of my local dealership fairly well. In a discussion we had not long after the first Indians rolled off the line in Spirit Lake, IA; he told me that Victory's market share came predominantly from the metric market. However, he said that Polaris was making no bones about who it was going after with the Indian. Don't know how well that is working but Indian has done very well for Polaris right from its launch. Problem is that even if they are biting into HD for market share, their growth has also come at the expense of Victory.
As for my Cross Country, I'm still happy with my decision. It runs well, handles well, service is minimal and they have a history of many problem free miles. If I can still hold a two-wheeler up when I'm done with this one, perhaps an Indian will be next.

I still have my Susuki. Nowhere near as comfortable as my Glide but at close to 200 hp, it is a blast to ride to work! :X

Before I bought my first HD in 2004, I enjoyed the adrenaline rush I got from my 1983 Hunda V65 Magna. An original "muscle bike". It was this adrenaline rush that tipped me to sell it and "slow down" by buying my Road King. Of course, what is one of the first things I do to it?? 98 inches with heads, cams, etc.

Being a former Victory Vision owner, here is my take on the situation:
1. The Victory ride, chassis, engine, suspension--awesome. 2. Because Victory used a mixed dealer network of often Metric bike shops, and ATV shops, the quality of the "consumer experience" was very variable I for one did not like not being able to schedule a service appt, get chrome do-dads for my ride, or have the dealership experience we all have come to enjoy with HD. At my HD dealership, everything was done right, the first time, and perfect. At the Victory dealership, they tore up aftermarket parts I had ordered for my bike, like a chrome console, and then powder coated it. Not acceptable. That was the only issue I had with Victory--and it had nothing to do about the bike itself. 3. If you've been to an Indian dealership, you will see that it is as nice as your local HD dealership. Nice store, customer service on par with HD, bikes still have that same ride, power, handling, suspension, and frame as the Victory. This is why Polaris bought Indian and set up its OWN DEALERSHIP NETWORK. I bet they are successful. Here's to many years of the old Indian / Harley rivalry. Long may both companies live! Bob
