I would go for the standard rack and add the wing for one reason. When you tie a bag down on that new one, your gonna run a risk of scratching the paint on the wing of the new one aren't you? There's lots of times I need to tie something on quick and just grab a bungie cord out of the saddlebag and slap it on. Looks like the hooks on the cord would be on the painted surface of the new style one... wouldn't it?

Don't know. I'm working up the courage to drill the holes in a brand new tour pak.

It does take a lot of courage.

Use good light. Don't be in a hurry. Take your time. Lay it out with masking tape and pencil/sharpie, look at it from several angles. Walk away and come back and eyeball it a few times. Make sure there's enough clearance between the front of the rack and the passenger's back/head with a bag strapped on the rack.

Use a sharp drill bit, and don't slip.

I just went to the dealer and I liked what I saw so I bought the rack and light.

I'm not drilling anything. I'm going to have the dealer put that thing on. They do it tomorrow afternoon.

ES, here we come, baby!!!!

Dan;

Sorry I didn't see this post sooner. My wife and I saw that rack at a dealer in NC last weekend. I wasn't fond of the external wiring connection that will require another hole for the power. I thought they should have ran the wires internally, but I guess because they are two pieces that it wasn't possible.

I was also concerned that my Dekker T-Bag wouldn't fit as well due to the trailing end being a little flatter and thicker than the premium rack.

Just my opinion. If I ever want more lights, I'll add the lighted spoiler.

How much crap does a man need to carry? Don't get me wrong, I've got a rack on mine.But I can carry much more than I need for a 2 week trip and still not use all the room on my bike.
My rack is for a rubber chicken.
Just Sayin.

Well I normally just carry camping gear inside mine. Tent, tent footprint, sleeping bag, thermarest, stove, lights, coffee maker, two water bottles, and two camp pillows all fit inside with room to spare. Clothes go in the waterproof roll bag attached to the rack.

I was wondering about how they did the wiring for the lights.

At some point there has to be a weight & balance issue. I don't know what it is but it might be a concern.
