I have postponed my new exhaust system .....

all my riding life I've NEVER found the PERFECT handlebars for me

In the basement I have 6 handlebars that I have had on the Orange Crush
The ones that are on there now are the best of the worst and have been on the bike for about 12 years.

I was at Daytona last week and came across these ... Heli Bars
I bought them, free installation at the show. Two techs working together took about 1.5 hrs to install them.
Adjustable in 3 planes allows you to get them close to you, the height you want and the perfect wrist angle .... all adjusted to your body/riding position


GREAT Bars, I can't express how much more COMFORTABLE I am on my bike now !!!!

ok, so they are expensive at $800 installed ...
I was going to spend $1K - $1.2K for an exhaust system PLUS tuner ....
Which offers ZERO, ZIP, NOTTA, NOTHING to rider comfort=safer riding.

I've ridden about 750 miles with them, I am IN LOVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NEVER ONCE did either of my hands fall alsleep
NEVER ONCE did my neck get tired
NEVER ONCE did my back get tired from bending over to reach for the grips
NEVER ONCE did my shoulders get tired from having to carry upper body weight bent over leaning on bars that were too far away from me
NEVER ONCE did my hands get tired from having too much weight on them from my upper body being bent forward cause the bars were to low

I am now riding sitting upright, hands just below the level of my heart and the wrist angles with no bends = totally normal natural positioning

I'm IN LOVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOTE:
The youtube video must be dated, the bars for the FLHTK and other baggers are ROUND not square but the functions are the same

I had to get over the initial thoughts of 'do I want all that going on in my cockpit'

but when I spent the night thinking it all over .... I came to the conclusion that they appeared to have the functionality that would provide me with the comfort I've always sought in my riding posture ... I was able to put the thoughts of look aside (had the same thoughts about the cost).

I've been riding since my teens ... I've never had a riding posture as comfortable as this ... awesome, McLuvin' it .... it's a shame that sometimes one might have to give up looks for function ....

is that akin to you can't have your cake and eat it too

Don't get me wrong....

If you like them, hammer down! I have no issues with what you choose to put on your bike.

On my bike, my handlebars aren't uncomfortable enough to warrant $800 worth of ugly.

Some guys love them some apes....

They won't get as high as yours, but they will go higher than what I have them set to right now .... they can also get closer to me if I want ... right now I like where they are adjusted ... I like em

Yep, I needed AT LEAST 2 inches higher and 3 inches closers ..... I guess I'm a lil guy with a short reach
