Shovel head tech update

For those that have a good ol shov this is a very nice upgrade. I have been doing a few shovels here of late and I have been converting them over to the evo style oil system. You can then use the wide selection of evo cams and you are rid of the external oil line to the head. It use's evo lifters, roller rockers with the correct ratio for a evo cam and it oils through the pushrods.
The first one I did I was very suprised on how well it ran and how quite the engine was. I use the entire S&S kit, you will have to ream and hone the new roller rockers to fit your stock shafts, and dont forget to get the end play right. I hate seeing a nice shovel only to hear the valve train clacking like Mike D on the phone Take care guys

What evo cam will work good in a 1974 shovel Steve? Ours has the S&S 84" stroker kit with S&S heads .Looking to do that upgrade when the money is right!

I'll jump in and say a Bob Wood 6. He also has them in a shovel grind.
May want to deck -.060 from the cylinder deck in order to get it to "hit".

Thanx for the info. Wok on the shovel has stopped for now, due to the new FatBob. I will keep this info if we start working on it again. Thank you Hillside.
