On the rear head pipe, close to the head.

Typical location is six-inches from the port. But I do know that most of the exhaust gases flow to the wye and out the right side pipe.
Thus the question. |

Take a look at the stock setup on an '07 pipe...better yet, just GET an '07 stock take off pipe. They are quite plentiful out there.
Try a local indy for take offs or even ask around this here forum...

Check ebay for a stock setup.
I got all the pipes, head to mufflers, plus one o2 sensor, relatively fresh take offs, for like $50, including shipping. Here's the listing... <clicky> Parts pretty much look like new.

Warren, My RK is an 02 without the O2 sensors, what advantage is having them, how would you wire them in and what would it do to mapping etc.

First for those who may wonder, O2 sensors can be useful ONLY on a fuel injected application. No worky with carbs. The purpose of O2 sensors is to monitor the exhaust gases and send a voltage signal to the ECM. They are measuring the amount of oxygen in the exhaust, which indicates how rich or lean the engine is running. The ECM uses this data as well as data from other sensors to calculate the injector pulse width needed to keep the engine running as close to the "ideal" mixture in any situation. This provides "real time feedback" control and is known as "closed-loop" operation. Advantages: Precise fuel mixture control;optimum fuel mileage; optimum performance. Adds to tunability. The ECM has to be programmed to use the inputs and wired for them. This is built in to the factory '07+ bikes. On an older bike you can add them with an aftermarket controller and/or ECM such as the Daytona WeGO system and others. In theory at least, what is does for mapping is make it un-necessary. The O2 sensor equipped systems are supposed to be "Auto-Tuning" meaning that the feedback allows the ECM to map itself over time. If, for instance, you change pipes or cams, the system will "learn" that the engine runs differently and adjust the map on its own. In theory you won't need a tuner or a dyno, just ride it. Does it really work quite that well? Uhm, nope. Edit: I added O2 to my '01 using a Daytona TwinTec III with WeGo. (Mine was a bit of trouble because there were some Fiat parts under the seat)

I still use the factory ECM and SERT, or maybe the TTS now. |

So....If I understand this right, for me to add O2 sensors to my bike I would have to purchase a similar Wego system to talk to my SERT. This would provide me more data so I could give the bike a better tune.
