I stand corrected...

Ok...this months American Iron magazine states that the HD Premium is now NOT made by Jagg....HD out sourced it but with the same technology. FWIW.

I am sure they went to a qaulity better. HD is not afraid to pay for quality.

dear Berzerker...

I'm just getting to "know" you and can't tell whether or not you last post is sarcastic or not. I guess they could have gone the route of improved quality but I assumed cheaper costs. Either way it seemed like Americam Iron preferes the Jagg.

30° is a LOT. You've about convinced me into getting an oil cooler. Prolly go with the HD premium one.

Before you install the HD cooler, give Jagg a call. Talk to Marvin. He will give you some valuable info. The HD cooler that mounts between the fork tubes is not the best choice. It blocks air to the engine, and lowers the oil pressure. On the Jagg coolers, the oil goes through the filter first, then into the cooler. On the HD's it is the opposite-that is what causes the pressure drop. The HD cooler is the classic form over function. In other words, it looks better, but does not work as well. I just installed the Jagg 10 row vertical mount on my 07 Fatboy. It does not look at all bad, and works like a champ. I've noticed approx. 30 degree temp drop at all times. Living in Florida, I wanted the maximum cooling. If you don't ride in such severe conditions, the HD or other smaller cooler may be fine. I paid $273 for the Jagg shipped to my door. That included the anti-rotation device. The thermostat adapter was a bit more, but since it is never really cold here, I did not get it.

Paul,

I have the HD and I think it has a 225* thermostat. It'll always end up getting to that temp, might take a while on some days. But it'll get there eventually. I'd like to take the stat out, but not sure if I can.

Zanotti

...I posted a while back about ordering from Zanotti. I got an e-mail today that said it is UPS to me on todays date (9-3-08). It was on back order for a while. I ordered it on 8-13-08. So... I guess I had to be patient but I did save $50 off retail.

Did LittleBear remove the thermostat? If not, I don't see how his oil temp can "rarely get over 200°" when there is a 225° thermostat inline? Wintertime, perhaps,... but for summertime this certainly does not compute.

Looks like I'm screwed either way. I run lowers in the winter, so I can't see how a downtube mounted cooler will work, and I've got the new Alloy Art Tri-Link stabilizer on the front of the motor. It moves the regulator out about an inch, so I can't mount the Harley cooler there.

Besides, Jagg seems awfully expensive. I'd have to run the thermostat up here in Jersey.
