They may just enjoy the run.
There was one on the back road over to Nolenville that used to pace me down a fence line for about a half a mile on a regular basis when I rode that way.

One of my coolest memories from riding involved a pigeon. I was on my way to work in the right lane with no traffic around me. A pigeon flew up beside me (I'm doing about 60) dark gray with red eyes. The bird flew beside me for about 400 yards. It was looking at me about four feet away and maybe five feet above the highway. As I exited to the right to Main street it peeled off to the left.
