North Texas Motorcycle Challenge!
Yes, this is our 4th year to have the event. And as usual, we need help.
So I'm putting out a call for anyone that can spare at least 5 hours on Friday, September 29th; or on Saturday, September 30th. We need judges from before 8AM til 4PM both days. Judges stand in the pattern area and determine cone touches, feet touching the pavement, improper pattern negotiation, and even missing patterns altogether. We provide snacks and water/gatoraide/soft drinks. If you live in Dallas, Plano, McKinney, or anywhere around here, we'd sure like your help. Please email me at kenatkenandjudy.us if you'd like to volunteer. The North Texas Motorcycle Challenge will be held at the Pat Lobb Toyota dealership on Central Expressway in McKinney, Texas on September 28, 29, and 30th. (28th is a practice day for the competitors). ALL PROCEEDS FROM THIS EVENT ARE GIVEN TO MOTORCOPS FOR KIDS BENEFITING THE SHRINER'S CHILDRENS HOSPITALS IN HOUSTON AND GALVESTON. This is a 100% volunteer event; no one is compensated in any way except for known that we're giving back to the motorcycling community and raising money for children that need medical help. By the way, Col. Allen Bl West, former US Congressman along with Grand Prairie Chief of Police, Chief Dye will be speaking at the opening ceremonies on Saturday morning. We're also asking the mayor and chief of police of McKinney. TBA. So please let me know if you can help. It's a fun event for a very worthy cause. Ken |

Hey, Rick. We have a competition just for you. You can handle a motor really well. We have a competition for riders that practice and are skillful, but have never competed before.
You should enter. You'd love the experience! The patterns are the 12-18 Coneweave, 12' coneweave, Snowman with 24; circles, and right/left hand 28' U turns. It'll be harder than the MSF basic, but well within your capabilities. THis is a personal invitation. September 28, 29 and 30. We'll have 75 to 100 riders there. C'mon over. It'll be fun. |

Do you have a special category for me? Possibly one that gives out a trophy for the longest time spent lying on the ground next to your motor?

How about a watching trophy? I’m a very good watcher! Too bad you’re too far from me, I’d love to help out.

Each pattern is shown in detail by clicking on the individual pattern linky. http://www.northtexasmotorcyclechallenge.com/patterns-rules.html Man, that looks like it'd be fun! Too bad it's essentially a two day ride from here.

I could do the retired motor cop makes me so nervous and whatever I do pisses him off, I leave the jiffy stand up when I park next to him.

And just like in previous years, NTXMC's charity is Motorcops for Kids benefiting the Shriner's Children's Hospitals in Galveston and Houston. And we are asking for donations. The button is a few inches down the main page. Any money you donate will go directly to the charity. None is kept by us. (We are a 100% volunteer event, no one is compensated in any way except for the satisfaction of holding the event and giving money to the charity).
And it's even better than that! Grand Prairie Chief of Police, Chief Dye (formerly a Garland motorcop) founded Motorcops for Kids. The deal he made with the Shriners is that every penny donated must go direction to care for the children. It doesn't go to overhead, advertising, salaries, slush funds, or anywhere else. 100% TO CARE FOR THE CHILDREN. Haven't donated to help those in Houston yet? This is a good place and all of your donation goes directly to care for children at the hospitals! You can also donate in person. The event, especially the opening ceremonies and the first 2 hours after lunch on Saturday the 30th are going to be spectator-intensive. You will enjoy your time there. Please post any questions or comments you may have. Ken |

MC Rider published a video about NTXMC and why we train. It's pretty good.
See it here And I published a video of our opening ceremonies. Actually, YouTube broke it into two separate videos. The second part includes the departure. I had Col. Allen B. West scheduled to speak at the ceremonies, but his wife had emergency surgery on Thursday night so he couldn't attend. Former House Majority Leader, Dick Army, filled in for me. (whew). Also, notice the two Shriners in the Color Guard. Well, I struggled for over a month to get a Color Guard to present the colors for the singing of the National Anthem. Then, Friday night, two of them committed to it. The McKinney Police Department and the Shriners both showed up Saturday morning. It actually made a pretty good show. Notice all the civilian riders were wearing yellow? I declared Saturday as "Yellow Day" and asked that all 60 or so of them wear their complimentary yellow T-shirts (that just happen to match my motorcycle) It was a great event. NINE novices that had never done this competed in their own course. We also had 12 Advanced riders including motorcops in their first competitions. I think the total was around 65 motorcyclists registered. It was probably our best NTXMC ever. |
