Damper Rod Bolt

You know that silly little bolt through the bottom of your lowers that holds the damper rod in at the bottom?

It's really not a metric Allen. It's a #30 pilot bit followed by a 1/4" bit.

That is all.

Just a small diameter bit for making a small diameter hole in the center of what your drilling. Then your larger bit follows it easier and the tip doesn't have to cut.

Much easier drilling.

Yup I snapped the ball end off, of a Snap On allen key leaving it very tightly wedged in and couldn't touch the tool steel with a drill bit. That's where I walked back in the house and anounced "Honey I just ordered some chrome lowers"....

Damnit, I didn't think about that.

I do have to give a thumbs up to the Kobalt ball end I was using. I had a foot long box end on it for a little leverage (lifetime warranty) and it didn't bend, twist, or break. It just cut the flats right out of the bolt head.
