Harley Rider Cup Holder-50700001 on a ShowerHead
Dave has one of these on his 2013 Roadie, and I've lusted after it for quite a while. I hate hanging junk on the bars, and I'm too cheap to get a HogTrough. And I don't like the way they look. But this......Perfect. Only problem is that they don't fit the Rushmore bikes thanks to the larger lowers.
So I saw that a guy on HDF had made it work, and decided to give it a shot. Of course, no dealer within 300 miles had one in stock (why would they, not like it's summer or anything), so after a wait, I got one. Installed it tonight, took 10 minutes. It fits....sort of. As y'all can see, the tab on the bracket hits the painted part of the lower fairing and the arm hits the front part. I haven't unpacked my bench grinder yet, but I'm visiting someone Friday who has one. We'll trim off a bit of the tab, I'll rotate it in towards the bike a bit, and it'll be good to go. No, I don't care that it's hitting the paint now. That part of the bike is invisible to anyone and it won't rust if a bit of the paint vanishes. With a grinder, this is a 20-minute install on a Rushmore bike.

Leather trimmed conchos show up yet?
Now that I see the full size pic, nice use of a foot peg bracket...

I never understood the sippy cup thing on motorcycles.
Why? Is time so precious one can't stop every now and then to have a cool drink? Or a hot one? Does one absolutely positively need to pound out full tank runs when on the road? What happens when you hit a bump? How often do you find yourself wearing sippy cup liquid? Do you stop to pee? If not, do you sport a catheter leg bag? I thought the main purpose of riding a motorcycle was to slow down a bit, escape from the rat race, zone out, ponder life's great mysteries........ Am I wrong?

Harley Rider Cup Holder-50700001 on a ShowerHead
Quote:
We rode back from ES in near 100 degree weather for two days, ask Patti my "cup" holder if she wished I had a few of those hanging on the bike. Third day the weather broke and we needed jackets in the morning. Last edited by vafatboy; 07-13-2016 at 10:22 PM. |

Bottles of water in the Tour Pack® after a ride across the desert around Las Vegas on a 112° f day tend to take on the ambient temperature...

Time's precious when you have limited days off and have to get across the country to your destination. In serious heat you need to be drinking over a liter an hour to stay hydrated, so if you're jamming tank-to-tank you have to carry something. I've never lost a drink nor have I worn one.

I've ridden days kinda like those. Leave early. Ride late. Stop every two hours or so (or every 150 miles) for gas, hydration, a pee and a stretch. And a granola bar or two. 15 minutes, tops, if flying solo. Repeat. I've done 600+ mile days in less than 13 hours total time. I'm physically and mentally tired by then, so it's time to quit. Yeah, and that liquid attains ambient temp thing....... I've consumed plenty of overly warm liquids. Not desert warm, but 90s-ish warm. Doing so ain't my favorite. But wet is still wet. I have a real small insulated fabric cooler that I need to try out. It'll hold two quarts of bottled liquid and it has a smallish footprint.

I have one of those on my '12. It wasn't supposed to fit that year, but I persuaded it a bit.

I have a HydroFlask that keeps stuff cool for hours in blazing heat. It's crazy how well it works.

It works well enough that hanging that close to the engine doesn't cause it to boil over?

My baby bottle. All drinks are poured into a bottle like this. 1 quarter turn twist on the top and you can drink without holding a cap. No spilling, no splashing. Sent from someone else's Galaxy S7.

Yup, those work really well. I don't mess with anything with a cap.

And it fits between the bars and windshield. No holder needed. Sent from someone else's Galaxy S7.
