I went to home depot today

There was a guy at the self check-out lane having a hard time trying to scan his items. Then it dawned on me that this do it yourselfer is going to try to fix up something at his house.

This is how it works....

Business installs self serve aisle.

Customers begin to use self serve aisle because there is no line.

Congestion in full serve aisle is reduced.

Business fires employees and closes full serve aisles.

Congestion at self serve aisle is now worse than it ever was at full service aisles.

This is why we pump our own gas and pay 1000% more for the privilege.

People are idiots.

I refuse to use the self-service check outs as well.

The Ex, who works in retail, couldn't understand why I wouldn't, and was mad as hell when she'd have to wait with me in line for an actual cashier.

Took me about 10 times of explaining before she finally understood what was happening.

I took my daughter to college a few weeks ago and she needed some personal things we didn't think about. So we went to the local Wally World (a store I despise), and there were NO cashiers at their registers! Only two self service checkouts that were open!! If it weren't for the fact she needed the goods and it was getting late, I would have left my cart right there and gone elsewhere. It was the dumbest event I have participated in a LONGGGG time!!

More almost career jobs going down the drain. Shopping market cashier was almost a great job as some actualy had some benifits.

I know Wally Worlds ads say they have great benifits for their employees, I almost beleive that...

Here's how it usually goes for me:

Scan item
Place the scanned item in the bag
Try to scan next item
Can't scan until I press the "Skip bagging" button on the screen
Press "Skip bagging" button
Screen says "Approval needed - Wait for associate"
I leave remaining items in cart and leave items bagged at register and walk out pissed.
Get home and realize I really did need that stuff
Go back, fill another cart and go through the aisle with a cashier
