As has been stated before, all the training and warning signs sometimes are just not enough. I'm sorry for your loss, its tough, I've been there too. 20 years ago and I sometimes still wonder.

I'm well into the "What if" stage, which I know is perfectly normal and necessary, but it doesn't make it any easier to sleep. I was looking up old pictures and remembering all that we've been through.

Calling hours start today, and we have our Masonic service tonight. I'm the Chaplain, so that's going to be a tough one.

I had burned a CD for my friend and thought about stopping in that weekend to give it to him. I was even in the neighorhood but didn't stop because I knew he had a new girlfriend. I understand the 'what ifs.'

There was a voice mail on my cell phone from him Saturday morning inviting me to a ride Sunday. We didn't get home until late Monday, so it wouldn't have made a difference, but it was weird getting a message from him after I had found out about his death.

Thanks again everyone, your support has been tremendous. The funeral was yesterday, right in the middle of the service a very loud Harley fired up and roared off. He would have loved it. The funeral had bikes and cops(he was one), and fire trucks and bagpipes, it couldn't have been nicer. Or harder.
