So, how much cheaper is the truck stop DEF?

My Jeep has only ever had parts store stuff, no local pumps.

So, just curious

I noticed the DEF price at Flying J in Joplin was $2.79 a gal this week. I usually buy a 2.5 gal jug at Orschelin Farm & Ranch for $7.99 so not a big difference around here.

I like having the empty jugs around to put used oil in. The Ecodiesel I have holds 10 quarts so an oil change fits perfectly in the DEF jug for recycle.

Around here it's 12.99 for 2 1/2 gallon jug. If I remember it's 2.49 from the pump at Bucees.

Estimate from the shop was $27,400. I about died.

Then, someone suggested I call my insurance company. So I did and filed a comprehensive claim, which they just approved!

$100 out of my pocket is a lot easier to swallow.

$27,400. Wow.

I'm not feeling nearly as bad about my broken windshield or blown fork seal as I was...

That's ridiculous. Is that a whole engine swap or repairing the old one.

And what kind of truck are we talking about?

Glad to hear the insurance is covering it.

It's a Ram 3500. Injectors cost 1800 each, so that's almost half the cost of the parts. Not a full engine swap, but entire fuel system needs replacing. Tank, lines, pumps, filter housings, injectors. Apparently DEF is toxic to an engine. You would think they (Ram) would place the DEF fill spout further away from the fuel spout. They are literally right next to each other

Yeah, I know, thus the big ass fuel door on the side of the truck bed.

Welcome to electronically controlled fuel system Diesel engines!

I remember when Ford went to the electronic Diesel injector wiring in the valve cover gaskets, and me thinking to myself, what farmer is going to believe his truck isn't running because his valve cover gaskets need replacing.

Harley parts ain't lookin' so costly now.

But really, the nozzle for DEF should be some weird size that won't fit into the Diesel oil spout. A la unleaded / leaded filler neck.

Yeah, they made it so the fuel nozzle won’t fit in the DEF, which would be bad, but not SO bad. The DEF nozzle fits comfortably in the fuel neck

So guys, the moral of the story is if you stick it in the wrong hole it’s going to cost you big time
