OK, the level was low in the master cylinder, which was why nothing came out when the bike was leaned over. With the bike level it will push fluid out. So I put the line back on and pumped and pumped and pumped (speed bleeders in place and one side open), and nothing. Maybe 15 minutes all together of pumping. Now what?

you cheaped out and got jif not skippy

I never used a speed bleeder, i use a mighty vac to back pump the fluid then close it up and bleed it normally, try opening up the master cylinder cover and very slowly pump or it will spray all over, you will see air bubbles come up, try and get as many out as posssible then bleed with the speed bleeeders.....try working with the wheel turned and work the low side first.

I did see the bubbles coming up with the cover off, so that meant something is indeed happening?

after all the air gets out of the master cylinder,it should gravity feed,do not let master cylinder run dry will doing this or you will have to start all over again.

yes, air is rising to the top, pump a few times, leave it open up top, go get a beer repeat..... eventually when you pump you will see it is just pushing fluid

Started getting fluid out of the right side bleeder so I went to replace the left side and it stripped/rounded off, even with a 6 point socket.

I have brakes again! Hammered the next size down 12 point onto it and got the old one out, the speed bleeder in and fluid to both sides. I have brakes! And I have snow.

after you get them bled and they still feels soft,put a tie stap around brake handle a bar and tighten it up,let it sit over night,you will be suprised that they are no longer soft .

With the braided steel lines they already feel much firmer than before. There are ♫tiny bubbles...in the line...♪ so I'll do the rise to the top thing to see if those will work their way out. Brake lever travel is already half of what it was before.

also remember that if your pads are worn the brakes will be softer
