If you don't take it off why would you replace it?

Used to do the warranty leaking head gaskets on BMW 325e engines, just replaced the oil, till the factory rep said there was nothing wrong with the oil because it was sealed in the pan and not in the head.

They did that to me too..when I complained they just handed me a new filter and 4 qts of Syn. Good enough.
